World Bank Group launches report titled Reducing Inequality & Enhancing Mobility in Malaysia

On the 6th of February 2025, Khalid Fadzillah and Rauf Fadzillah from Palindrome attended the launch of the report by the World Bank Group titled Reducing Inequality & Enhancing Mobility in Malaysia held at Sasana Kijang.

Some takeaways from the report:

  • Inequality vs. Mobility – Tackling inequality isn’t just about income gaps; economic mobility has to be improved to help bring about real opportunities.
  • Education & Wealth Gaps – Limited access to quality education and low wealth accumulation cause many Malaysians to be stuck in the same income bracket.
  • Policy Solutions can help – Targeted labor policies, tax reforms, and better social protections can help bridge the gap.
  • The High-Income Goal – Without structural reforms, Malaysia might not reach high-income status within a meaningful timeframe.
